PRIVACY POLICY
Policy Effective: October 15, 2025
Privacy Framework
Rainthorn operates under a privacy-by-design philosophy where data minimization is not an afterthought but a foundational principle. This Privacy Policy explains our approach to information handling with complete transparency about what we collect (minimal), what we store (locally), and what we transmit (essentially nothing).
Local Storage Utilization
Rainthorn uses browser localStorage technology to maintain minimal data on your device. This information never leaves your computer or mobile device:
Age Verification Record
When you confirm being 18 or older, we save a verification flag in both sessionStorage and localStorage. This prevents repeated verification prompts while maintaining the age restriction. The stored data contains no personal information - merely a boolean indicator.
Game State Persistence
Games may store session-specific data in localStorage, including:
- Current virtual credit balance for continuity between sessions
- User-configured settings (audio preferences, graphics options)
- Current game position to enable resumption after browser closure
All such data exists exclusively in your browser's local storage mechanisms. It is not transmitted to servers, shared with third parties, or accessible to anyone except you through your own device.
Data We Do NOT Collect
To eliminate ambiguity, here is a comprehensive inventory of data Rainthorn does NOT collect, store, process, or transmit:
- Personal identifiers including names, email addresses, or contact information
- Geographic data including addresses, locations, or coordinates
- Network identifiers including IP addresses or MAC addresses
- Device fingerprints or unique hardware identifiers
- Financial information of any kind (we process no transactions)
- Browsing history or cross-site tracking data
- Social media profiles, connections, or integration data
- Demographic information beyond age verification threshold
- Behavioral analytics or usage pattern tracking
- Search queries or interaction logs
- Any information capable of personally identifying you
This is not a legal hedge - we genuinely do not collect this information because our Platform functions without it.
Cookie and Tracking Policy
Rainthorn does not use HTTP cookies. We employ localStorage exclusively for the minimal data requirements described above. Our stance on tracking technologies:
- No Advertising Tracking: We serve no advertisements and employ no advertising cookies or pixels
- No Analytics Tracking: We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar behavioral analytics services
- No Social Media Tracking: We do not embed Facebook pixels, Twitter trackers, or equivalent technologies
- No Third-Party Tracking: We do not permit external services to track users on Rainthorn
- No Cross-Site Tracking: We do not participate in cross-site tracking networks or data sharing
External Service Integration
Rainthorn integrates exactly one external service:
Google Fonts
We utilize Google Fonts to deliver typography. When your browser requests font files from Google's content delivery network, Google may collect technical information about the request (such as IP address and user agent string) governed by their privacy policy.
This is standard practice for web fonts and represents the only external service interaction on Rainthorn. We selected Google Fonts for reliability, performance, and near-universal browser compatibility.
Outbound Resource Links
We provide links to responsible gambling organizations (GambleAware, GamCare, Gambling Therapy) in our footer. Clicking these links navigates you to external websites governed by their respective privacy policies. We have no control over or responsibility for external data practices.
Data Usage Purposes
The minimal localStorage data serves exclusively these purposes:
- Remembering age verification status to prevent repetitive prompts
- Maintaining game state for continuous entertainment experience
- Preserving user-configured settings and preferences
We do not use data for marketing, advertising, profiling, selling, analytics, or any purpose beyond essential Platform functionality.
User Control Mechanisms
Because all Rainthorn data resides in your browser's local storage, you maintain complete control:
- Manual Deletion: Clear localStorage through browser settings to remove all Rainthorn data
- Private Browsing: Use incognito/private mode to prevent any data persistence
- JavaScript Blocking: Disable JavaScript to prevent localStorage usage (though Platform functionality will cease)
- Data Inspection: Use browser developer tools to view exact localStorage contents
We recommend clearing browser data when using shared or public computers to maintain privacy.
Data Security
Traditional data security concerns (server breaches, unauthorized access to databases, etc.) have minimal applicability to Rainthorn since we don't collect or store personal data on servers. However, we still recommend:
- Maintaining current browser versions with security patches
- Using browsers with strong security and privacy features
- Exercising caution on unsecured networks
- Clearing browser data on shared devices
LocalStorage security is managed by your browser's built-in protection mechanisms.
Children's Privacy Protection
Rainthorn is not designed for, marketed to, or intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. Our age verification system is specifically designed to prevent underage access. If you are under 18, you must not use this Platform.
International Access
Rainthorn is accessible globally. Since we do not collect or transmit personal data to servers, international data transfer regulations have minimal applicability. The only cross-border data flow occurs when your browser requests Google Fonts from Google's global infrastructure.
Privacy Rights
Because we do not collect personal information on servers, many traditional privacy rights (data access requests, deletion requests, portability requests) are not applicable in conventional contexts. However:
- You can inspect all Rainthorn data through browser developer tools
- You can delete all Rainthorn data by clearing browser storage
- You can prevent data collection by not using the Platform
- No centralized databases contain information about you
Your privacy is protected through technical architecture, not merely policy promises.
Policy Modifications
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect Platform changes, feature additions, or legal requirements. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Policy Effective" date at the document beginning.
We encourage periodic policy review to stay informed. However, given our minimal data collection architecture, significant changes are unlikely.
Privacy Commitment
At Rainthorn, privacy is not a legal obligation we grudgingly fulfill - it's a core value we enthusiastically embrace. We've architected our Platform from inception to respect your right to entertainment without surveillance, profiling, or data exploitation.
This commitment reflects our belief that you should enjoy digital entertainment without concern about who's watching, tracking, or monetizing your behavior. Your recreation is our focus, not your data.
